Four good reasons to go tobogganing

Last modified on September 3, 2024

What better way to let children expend all their boundless energy than by going down the slide? Anne, our psychomotor therapist, gives you four good reasons to let them have fun in complete safety.

Developing one's motor skills

On a slide, a child climbs, sits, and slides… all movements that develop their coordination and balance. They alternately raise their hands and feet, use their strength to reach the top, find a way to sit down, slide while maintaining their balance, and control their landing at the bottom! Quite a workout for a child!

Developing his self-confidence

By moving their body, children take risks, and even more so on a slide! They have to climb the ladder, gaining height, then let go and slide down: it's a moment they can't really control, and finally they reach the bottom, bursting with pride! They experience a range of emotions: anticipation, excitement, fear, pleasure, joy… This activity allows them to push their limits, overcome their fear, realize their capabilities, and all they want to do is do it again, because they're anticipating the next experience!

Working on the concepts of space and time

The slide is a little obstacle course in itself: there is a beginning (the child The activity involves climbing the ladder, a middle ground (where the child sits), and an end with the arrival at the top! Furthermore, the child experiences the concepts of speed and slowness physically. This activity helps them develop a sense of time. Spatially, they experience up, down, far, and near, and then go around to start again! This entire process will help him to build his bearings in space.

Promote socialization

Children often have to share this play space with their peers, which requires them to wait their turn, respect safety rules, and build relationships. At the same time, they watch others, analyze their strategies, and observe their emotions. This allows them to compare themselves to others and strengthens their confidence.

In short

Those are reassuring tips! Now all that's left is to choose the right one safe and secure slide to offer children great moments of fun!
